The Minister of Finance, , stated that he intends to help in the effort to re-elect President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT), but ruled out being campaign coordinator.

In an interview with GloboNews shown on Wednesday night (14), the minister left open the possibility of participating in the elaboration of the PT government program, as he did in 2018 – at that time, Haddad assumed the candidacy for President after Lula’s arrest.

Haddad reaffirmed that he does not intend to be a candidate, but did not rule out talking to the PT about the matter. “There is a lot at stake, not just in the economy. I want to understand the best way in which I can be used”, he stated.

The minister said he will leave command of the Treasury in January, but did not confirm whether he will be replaced by the department’s executive secretary, Dario Durigan.
