Haddad says that the former president of the CVM warned him about the magnitude of the Master case

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said on Wednesday (14) that the then president of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), João Pedro Nascimento, went to his house to talk about the magnitude of the Banco Master case. Haddad stated that the case is the “biggest bank fraud” in the country’s history.

In an interview with GloboNewsthe minister declared that the matter concerns the Treasury for three reasons, although it falls under the Central Bank’s jurisdiction: the impact on the CVM; about the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC), which is not state-owned, but has participation from Banco do Brasil and Caixa Econômica Federal; and about the Federal Revenue, because of tax issues.

Haddad reaffirmed that he talks daily with the president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, about the case. Asked about the payment of the FGC to investors, Haddad stated that the issue is not within the Central Bank’s jurisdiction, but that he believes that everything will be paid as planned. There is still no set date for Master investors to start receiving their amounts back.
