Iran closes its airspace to civilian air traffic

The measure applies to all international flights, except those originating or ending in Tehran, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.

Iranian authorities informed airlines of the closure of the country’s airspace this Wednesday (14 January 2026). The measure applies to all international flights, with the exception of authorized operations that originate or end in the capital Tehran, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.

At around 6:30 pm (Brasília time), Flightradar24 showed reduced flight traffic within the country’s borders.

The decision was taken in light of the escalation of tensions between Iran and the United States. US President Donald Trump launched a military intervention in response to the situation in the country.
