party linked to , Renan Santos filed a representation with the Attorney General’s Office against the governor of Pernambuco, (PSD), holding her responsible for the infiltration of organized crime into a deactivated prison in the state.
The complaint comes after a visit by Renan and allies to the Professor Barreto Campelo prison, in Itamaracá (PE), last Tuesday (13). The site was recently deactivated by the state government and will make way for a tourism project.
According to Renan, notes were found in the now empty building indicating Comando Vermelho’s activities there, as well as references to betting on the animal game, a TV set and sockets for charging cell phones. The group filmed and photographed the location.
“Several documents, handwritten records and material items were found, appearing to have been abandoned at the location, which reveal, in theory, the existence of a structure of illicit trade, parallel administration and criminal activities within the prison establishment, at the time when it was still active,” says the representation signed by the presidential candidate.
The piece lists that accounting notebooks related to drug sales were also identified as having been left in the cells, as well as a type of.
In a notebook, there was reference to the fact that a faction member had ordered a murder upon payment of R$10,000, as well as explanations about the rules and internal dynamics of the criminal organization. Even an attendance list for a barbecue was located, according to Missão.
“It is a crude demonstration that the public authorities of the state of Pernambuco have lost control of the prison system and, worse, appear to have simply turned their backs on what was happening within it”, says the piece sent to the PGR.
“At the very least, Pernambuco is facing a scenario of extreme negligence, where those responsible allowed organized crime to occupy the State’s own facilities”, he adds.
The representation requests the opening of an investigation against the governor and the state secretary of Penitentiary Administration, Paulo Paes de Araújo, and the possible filing of criminal action against both.
