Apple pie with apple halves is a fluffy, buttery cake with a lemon aroma and a generous portion of delicate and sweet apples. It is delicious and easy to prepare, it does not require preliminary cooking or frying the fruit. It goes perfectly with a cup of coffee or tea, your loved ones will definitely like this dessert and they will be happy to ask for another piece.
Before you start baking, prepare the appropriate form. It will work well cake tin with a diameter of 23 cm.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 150 g of wheat flour,
- 150 g of soft butter,
- 150 g of powdered sugar,
- 3 eggs,
- zest of 1 lemon,
- juice of 1 lemon,
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder,
- ¼ teaspoon of fine salt,
- 3 apples.
In a bowl, cream the butter, sugar, lemon zest and juice until fluffy. Add flour and baking powder. Mix again until uniform.
Separate the whites from the yolks. Place the egg whites in a clean bowl and beat them until stiff. Add the yolks to the butter mixture and mix.
Gently fold in the egg whites using a silicone spatula in two batches.
Pour the mixture into a 23 cm diameter cake tin lined with baking paper.
Peel the apples and cut them in half. Remove the seeds carefully. Cut each half in several places. Place the fruit on the dough and press it gently.
Put the cake in the oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for 50-60 minutes, until the stick is dry. If the top browns too quickly and the center remains raw, cover the pan loosely with aluminum foil.
Remove the apple pie with apple halves from the oven and leave for 5 minutes, then transfer it to a rack to cool.
Serve warm or cold – with sour cream or whipped cream.
