Students without a passport: Learning about elections but not having a voice


Getting up brings some momentum into the sleepy class. It’s 8:30 a.m. and democracy is on the agenda at the polytechnic school in the seventh district. There is an exercise to warm up: “The school decides what job you have to do. If you like it, stay seated, if not, then get up,” explains teacher Ken Goigner. All but one student, who doesn’t seem to be quite getting going yet, stands up.
