The Supreme Court’s Prosecutor’s Office files the PSOE complaint against the mayor of Algeciras | Spain

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court has agreed to archive the complaint filed by the PSOE against the mayor of Algeciras (Cádiz), José Ignacio Landaluce, for the alleged crimes of embezzlement of public funds, influence peddling, harassment or sexual abuse.

In an order released by the Algeciras City Council this afternoon, the chief prosecutor of the Criminal Chamber reports that on January 9, the prosecutor investigating the complaint agreed to archive the proceedings opened after the complaint, so “there are no active investigation proceedings at this time.”

The prosecutor thus responds to a request to appear at the proceedings, which he rejects as the complaint has been filed.

after the PSOE filed a complaint with the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office, but he did not resign as mayor or as a member of the Senate.

The PSOE brief, presented to the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office given the status of the popular senator as a member of the public, detailed alleged episodes of sexual harassment reported by three PP councilors: Susana Pérez —who is still a councilor in the Consistory—, Eva Pajares —current territorial delegate of Health in Cádiz— and Laura Ruiz, who ended up as a City Council worker, after being forced to resign after being convicted by a court in Algeciras.
