Trump imposes tariffs on high-performance chips from Nvidia and AMD

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday imposed 25 percent tariffs on certain advanced computer chips. The AI processor H200 from Nvidia and the semiconductor MI325X from AMD are among those affected, according to documents from the President’s Office. The government justified the move on national security grounds. The aim is to reduce dependence on foreign manufacturers such as TSMC from Taiwan and to relocate production to the USA.
