The Airbus A321 was operating flight TK1853 from Istanbul scheduled to arrive in Barcelona at 11:00. During the flight, the authorities were informed of a possible bomb threat, which led to the immediate activation of security protocols.
After landing, emergency services proceeded to disembark all passengers and began thorough checks inside the aircraft.
The police authorities announced that they are investigating the incident, without providing further information. Turkish Airlines officials were not immediately available for comment.
From the investigations and announcements, it appears that the alarm was falsely raised, as there was nothing suspicious, other than a suspected explosive device related to the use of the passenger’s mobile phone.
