Annual Budget Law Project (PLOA) was approved at the end of December 2025, on the 19th, by the National Congress, and had until this Wednesday to be vetoed or approved
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) sanctioned this Wednesday (14) the budget for 2026. The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union in an extra session.. The deadline for sanctioning or vetoing the budget ended this Wednesday.
In the new budget, there is an increase in relation to the Union’s primary expenditure limit, which goes from R$2.24 trillion in 2025, to R$2.42 trillion in 2026. The base was corrected for inflation of 5.35% and the 2.5% percentage of real growth allowed by law.
