The company, Galactic Resource Utilization Space (GRU), has already begun, requiring a non-refundable deposit of 1 million dollars to potential guests.

The GRU launched its booking website on Monday, detailing ambitious plans to build a luxury hotel on Earth’s only natural satellite. According to the company, the construction is expected to start in 2029depending on regulatory approvals and compliance with technical milestones. The hotel would become the first permanent man-made structure outside of Earth.

Founded by 21-year-old Skyler Chan, GRU says it will use proprietary housing modules and automated technologies to convert lunar soil into durable building materials. This approach, according to the company, will reduce need to transport construction materials of the Earth and will make the project economically viable.

According to , the initial target market includes experienced space travelers, such as previous commercial flight participants, as well as affluent honeymooners looking for an unconventional honeymoon destination. Chan, who has a degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, developed the lunar hotel concept while participating in the Y Combinator startup accelerator. The project attracted funding from investors linked to major aerospace and defense companies, including SpaceX and Anduril.

The announcement comes at a time when the United States is intensifying its ambitions in space exploration.
