Accused of defaulting on tour, agency owner breaks silence and speaks to ContilNet about controversy

Tour organizer João Carlos, known as Kim, presented his version of the events at the Flagrantes Police Station (Defla), in Rio Branco, after being accused by passengers of not complying with tourist packages sold for a trip to Cacoal (RO). According to him, the problem occurred due to financial disputes with the company responsible for transport, which would have prevented the buses from being released.

Regarding the absence of buses at the boarding point, in Praça da Juventude, Kim said that he had worked with transport companies for years, but that he lost credit after administrative changes. According to him, a new negotiation was made with YES Turismo, through the owner identified as Igor. “He released two vans and a bus, practically on credit, for us to resume our excursions”, he reported.

According to the organizer, it was agreed that each trip carried out would serve to pay off a previous one, without accumulating debts. However, for the tour scheduled for Wednesday night (14) to be released, it would be necessary to clear an outstanding payment for the month of November. “There was around R$14,000 left to pay for this last trip,” he said. He said he managed to raise part of the amount with the help of a Pauini client, but was unable to complete the amount in time.

Asked about the additional charge of R$90 made to passengers already at the square, Kim stated that it was a request for help, motivated by a problem in receiving amounts via card. “I explained that I had a problem selling the card and that the money would only be received on business days. I asked if anyone could help me with this amount, which would be refunded by Sunday”, he declared. He stressed that no one was forced to pay.

According to Kim, as the previous pending issue was not settled, the transport company did not release the bus. He also stated that he was surprised by the situation, as he had been making several uneventful trips.

STAY UPDATED:

Regarding refunds to customers, Kim assured that he intends to return the amounts paid. “From Monday, we will start working to refund all customers,” he said. He also informed that future excursions must be canceled until the situation is fully clarified, as he no longer intends to work with the transport company involved.

It’s worth remembering

In 2024, another case involving Kim Turismo had already been registered in Acre. At the time, dozens of passengers reported that an excursion to Selva Park, in Cacoal (RO) did not take place, despite the packages having been sold and paid for in advance. Boarding was scheduled for Rio Branco, but the buses did not show up, leaving customers without information and without the promised trip.

According to reports published at the time, the packages were sold mainly through social media. Passengers sought information from the transport company and the hotel at their destination, which confirmed the existence of reservations, but reported that payments had not been made or that reservations had been canceled hours before the trip. Faced with the situation, groups of customers organized themselves to exchange information and register police reports.

Still in 2024, the complaints pointed to significant financial losses and the repetition of a pattern of problems involving excursions organized by the company. The cases were formalized with the Civil Police, which began to investigate the circumstances and possible crimes related to the sale of tourist packages that were not fulfilled.
