The Águia de Marabá under-20 delegation suffered an accident this Thursday (15) involving the bus carrying the team and a truck, near the city of Crixás do Tocantins, in the north of the country.
The collision caused the death of physical trainer Hecton Alves and seriously injured the team’s coach, Ronan Tyezer, the team said in a note on Instagram.
According to the statement, the team, which had participated in Copinha 2026, was returning to the city of Marabá, in Pará, when it collided with the truck that was stopped on the road, without signs. Coach Ronan Tyezer was taken to a hospital, where he was rescued.
The club reported that at the time of publication of the note it had no information about possible athletes seriously injured in the accident.
“In this moment of sadness, we express our solidarity with family, friends, co-workers and everyone who suffers from this irreparable loss. As a sign of mourning and respect, we unite in prayer, wishing strength and comfort to the bereaved hearts”, declared the team.
Several Brazilian football entities, such as Copinha itself, spoke out about the accident and paid condolences to the death of physical trainer Hecton Alves, also wishing the team’s coach a recovery.
“The São Paulo Football Federation deeply regrets the accident involving the Águia de Marabá delegation’s bus on the night of Thursday, January 15, which killed Hecton Alves, physical trainer of the team from Pará who was returning from his participation in Copinha Sil 2026”, published the Copinha profile on Instagram in a post shared with the FPS.
Clubs such as Corinthians, Palmeiras and Atlêtico published notes lamenting the accident suffered by the Águia de Marabá team.
“Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of physical trainer Hecton Alves, who unfortunately passed away in the accident. We also wish a speedy recovery to coach Renan Tyezer, who is hospitalized”, published the Palmeiras profile on X.
“Atlético stands in solidarity with Águia de Marabá, whose under-20 delegation suffered a serious accident inside Tocantins,” the team said in a post.
In a statement, Marabá City Hall made itself available to the club to provide assistance.
“In this moment of pain, the City Hall sympathizes with Hecton’s family, friends and colleagues and the technical committee, directors, presidency and fans of Águia de Marabá for such a loss. We hope that Tyezer’s health is soon restored and hearts are comforted”, he published on his website.
