Bolsonaro will have to go through a medical board for a new home stay request

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) must undergo a medical examination carried out by the PF (Federal Police) medical board before further analysis to grant house arrest.

In a decision by Alexandre de Moraes, minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), states that an analysis of the former president’s situation must take place before evaluating a possible new request from the defense.

“In this way, before analyzing the new request for humanitarian house arrest, an examination must be carried out by a medical board of the Federal Police, to analyze the current situation of the prisoner Jair Messias Bolsonaro and possible adaptations to continue serving his sentence in the new location – General Staff Room at the 19th Military Police Battalion – PMDF, located in the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, in Brasília/DF –, or the need for transfer to a penitentiary hospital”, wrote Moraes in the decision.

The request made by Bolsonaro’s Defense involved a new “independent medical evaluation, on an urgent basis, in order to assess the compatibility of the Petitioner’s current clinical state with the prison environment, in light of the supervening event now proven.”

Moraes stated in the decision that the former president is currently in custody under “privileged and different conditions” in relation to the rest of the Brazilian prison population.

The minister also said that, according to him, they spread false information about supposed degrading conditions in the cell in which he was serving his sentence, at the PF Superintendence (Federal Police) in Brasília.

Despite this, Moraes emphasizes that the acts should not prevent Bolsonaro from being transferred to a special cell “with even more favorable conditions”.
