Procon-MPMG fined R$479,500 to the company Eventim Brasil — known for selling tickets to major events — for abusive practices and non-compliance with half-price legislation and the Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.

According to the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG), in a note released this Thursday (15), the investigation found that Eventim failed to grant the half-price benefit to legal beneficiaries.

The organization states that, at selected events, the website did not provide half-price tickets for the PwD public and their companions. In cases where the benefit was available, there was no clarity about the purchase procedure for the companion.

The platform claimed that it only acts as an intermediary in the sales process. In response, Procon-MPMG stated that the company is part of the supply chain, having sole responsibility for sales.

The final decision recognized the violation of specific legislation, in addition to identifying abusive practices due to the lack of transparency.

A CNN Brazil try to contact Eventim Brasil. The space remains open.

The company is part of a group with a global share in the ticket sales sector, in addition to specializing in the sale of tickets for shows, festivals, theater and sporting events in Brazil and around the world.
