Corina Machado optimistic after meeting Trump delighted with Delcy Rodríguez

The Venezuelan opponent’s statements upon leaving the White House were short. Followed by a group of journalists until she entered the vehicle that sent her, escorted by several security guards and accompanied by staff members, Machado was very brief in the few answers she gave.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner took a while to answer whether she had offered the award to the President of the United States during lunch, turning her face to some supporters, who praised her in Spanish.

They asked him several times how his meeting with Donald Trump had gone. He responded once, with a short “Very well.”

Maria Corina Machado and Edmundo González, the presidential candidate whom the US considered, until recently, as the legitimate winner of the July 28, 2024 elections, were taken by surprise when Trump said that Maria Corina Machado was excellent, but that she “did not have the support of Venezuelans.”

Trump: “Delcy Rodríguez is a fantastic person”

After accepting the appointment of Delcy Rodríguez as interim President, as provided for in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Trump and the Venezuelan leader exchanged contradictory words, without it being possible to understand who was, in practice, in charge of Venezuela’s destiny.

Wednesday, after a phone call between the Interim President of Venezuela and Donald Trump, the President of the USA said he greatly appreciated her:

“Today we had a great conversation and she’s a fantastic person. In fact, she’s someone we’ve worked very well with,” Trump told reporters at the White House.
