At least one person was injured, a spokesman for the Veiligheidsregio Utrecht emergency service told ANP. It was not immediately clear how many people were injured in the incident. “A fire broke out in a house on Visschersteeg,” the regional emergency service said.
Broken glass and debris covered the street and rescuers also evacuated homes and businesses in the Mariaplaats and Springweg areas.
At least six ambulances were sent to the scene, while a medical team was flown to the area by helicopter. Police cordoned off the area while firefighters tried to bring the flames under control.
