GDP preview grows 0.68% in November and exceeds market expectations

IBC-Br result reverses the previous month’s decline and is driven by the positive performance of the services and industry sectors

The total Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) grew 0.68% in November, compared to October and in the seasonally adjusted series, the municipality reported this Friday (16). In the previous month, the index fell 0.10% (revised, -0.25%). The result was above the research median Broadcast Projectionswhich pointed to an increase of 0.35%. Market estimates ranged from a drop of 0.10% to growth of 0.80%.

The IBC-Br ex-agriculture, which excludes the effects of the sector from the account, increased 0.71%, after a fall of 0.17% in the previous month (revised, -0.31%). The agricultural indicator fell 0.27%, after rising 1.59% in October (revised, 3.07%).

The services index grew 0.64%, after rising 0.05% in the previous month (revised from -0.23%); that of industry increased 0.79%, after falling 0.86% in October (revised, -0.74%); and taxes equivalent, in general terms, to the item of net taxes on products of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 1.13%, after falling 0.39%.

Interannual

In comparison with November 2024, the total IBC-Br increased by 1.25% in the series without seasonal adjustment, also above the survey median Broadcast Projectionsup 0.66%. Market estimates ranged from a drop of 0.10% to an increase of 2.60%.

The ex-agriculture index grew 1.18% year-on-year, after rising 0.54% in the previous month (revised, 0.28%). Agriculture rose 3.59%, after growing 4.69% in October (revised, 4.06%).

The services indicator grew 2.04%, after rising 1.21% (revised, 0.80%). Industry fell 0.26%, after rising 0.04% (revised, 0.07%). The tax index fell 0.30%, after falling 1.41% (revised, -1.51%).
