The president (PT) appointed journalist David Butter as general director of EBC (Brazilian Communications Company). He takes over from Bráulio Ribeiro, who returns to the company’s Operations, Engineering and Technology Directorate.
Butter graduated from UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) and had stints at TV Globo and GloboNews.
The choice of command of the public company is also signed by minister Sidônio Palmeira, from Secom (Communication Secretariat of the Presidency), the body to which EBC is linked. The decision was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday (15).
The public broadcasting company is responsible for Agência Brasil, Rádio MEC and Rádio Nacional. EBC also provides government communication services, such as broadcasting Executive Branch events.
Bráulio Ribeiro remained president of the EBC on an interim basis, since taking office. André Basbaum assumed the presidency in August 2025. Now, Ribeiro returns to the Operations, Engineering and Technology Directorate of EBC.
