The leader of the Venezuelan opposition met this Thursday with Donald Trump at the White House.

María Corina Machado revealed that she offered the Nobel medal to Donald Trump, during their meeting this Thursday at the White House. The leader of the Venezuelan opposition did not confirm, however, whether the North American President accepted.

The meeting between the two took place em Washington DC, less than two weeks after the US captured Nicolás Maduro during a military operation in Venezuela.

Upon leaving the White House, Machado briefly told the press that the meeting had gone “very well”.

The White House spokeswoman assured that Donald Trump recognizes the efforts of Venezuelan politics and their fight for democracy in the South American country.

“I know that the President was looking forward to this meeting and was confident that it would be a good and positive conversation with Ms. Machado, who is truly a remarkable and courageous voice for many people in Venezuela. Therefore, the President is obviously looking forward to talking to her about the reality in the country,” the spokeswoman added.
