Politicians from and from , opposition parties to the governor of , (Republicans), sent representations to the São Paulo Public Ministry to determine whether the state government paid for gossip profiles on social media to publish publications praising the administration’s achievements.
The complaint was revealed by this Monday (12), in a report that cited payments for pro-Tarcísio posts and with publications made by .
São Paulo councilor Keit Lima (PSOL), this Thursday (15), sued the MP alleging “evidence of self-promotion disguised as institutional content”.
“The Federal Constitution imposes an unequivocal brake on the temptation, which is always present, of transforming the State into a showcase of authority. The advertising of acts, programs, works, services and campaigns must have an educational, informative or socially oriented character, with the inclusion of elements that characterize personal promotion of public agents being prohibited”, wrote the councilor.
At Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo), state deputy Paulo Fiorilo (PT) asked the MP to file an action for liability for an act of administrative improbity.
The parliamentarian alleges “evidence of a financial co-option operation of digital influencers” to broadcast institutional propaganda from the Tarcísio government.
In the letter, the PT member also states that there is an “organized scheme to drain public resources in favor of a personal power project.” He also calls for an audit of all advertising contracts made by the government’s Communications Secretariat and the breaking of banking and tax secrecy of companies and influencers mentioned in the report.
In a statement, the São Paulo government says it did not hire the influencers and profiles mentioned by Piauí.
“The Government of São Paulo reinforces that there was no public investment in the publications mentioned in the report. State management only carries out institutional and public benefit campaigns, always with the aim of providing transparency to management actions and disseminating information of public interest. All campaigns are in full compliance with the constitutional principles of legality, impersonality, publicity and efficiency.”
