Producer prices in Brazil fall 0.37% in November, shows IBGE

Os producer prices in Brazil they fell in November for the 10th time in a row, at a rate of 0.37%, mainly impacted by extractive industries, reported the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) this Friday (16).

The result led the index accumulated in 12 months to a deflation of 3.38%.

Among the 24 activities analyzed, IBGE pointed out that 12 registered negative changes in November, with extractive industries suffering one of the biggest drops, with a decline of 3.43%.

“This is a sector that follows the international movement very closely, which was no different in November. Products from oil and gas extraction and those from the extraction of ferrous minerals followed the downward movement in prices”, explained Alexandre Brandão, analysis and methodology manager at IBGE.

Among the major economic categories, capital goods registered a negative price change of 0.01% in November, intermediate goods fell 0.75% and consumer goods increased 0.09%.

The IPP measures the variation in product prices at the “factory gate”, that is, without taxes and freight, of 24 activities in the extractive and processing industries.
