Janaina Reis Miron, 49 years old, sister of the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), was arrested this Thursday, the 15th, after being recognized by the cameras of the Smart Sampa program. She was the subject of arrest warrants for contempt, bodily harm and drunk driving.
In a statement, the City of São Paulo reported that the arrest “is supported by court orders, complied with the strictness of the law and was carried out following Smart Sampa’s identification criteria”.
According to the Military Police, Janaina was captured at around 3:22 pm on Avenida Clara Mantelli, in the Socorro neighborhood, in the south of the capital. She is detained at the Santo Amaro DP, also in the south zone, and must undergo a custody hearing this Friday, the 16th.
Criminal history
In October 2022, Janaina was arrested for driving drunk on Rodovia João Hipólito Martins, in Botucatu, zigzagging on the road and almost colliding with other vehicles. When approached, according to the police, she was not carrying documents, showed signs of intoxication, refused a breathalyzer test, resisted arrest and disrespected the agents, who had to use handcuffs.
At the time, the police identified that Janaina had a criminal record for theft, mistreatment, intentional bodily harm and drunk driving, and was transporting two pitbull dogs in the vehicle.
Janaina reportedly said that she was not drunk, but that she was under the influence of medication and that it was dangerous to approach the vehicle because of the animals. According to the agents, during the approach, she said that the police officers were a “bunch of bums, inferior to my husband who is a PM captain” and that they were taking her to the police station because they wanted money.

Initially, Janaina was sentenced to provide services to the community, pay monetary benefits and suspend her right to drive, but court officials made several unsuccessful attempts to summon her.
Faced with non-compliance, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the conversion of the sentence, which was accepted by the Botucatu Criminal Court, with the issuing of a definitive arrest warrant, which has already been communicated to the security agencies. The São Paulo Court converted it into a prison sentence in an open-to-conviction regime.
