WASHINGTON, Jan 16 (Reuters) – White House Counsel Kevin Hassett on Friday downplayed the federal criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, saying he hoped there was nothing to see.
The Fed’s investigation is a simple request for information that should come soon and then move forward, Hassett said in an interview with CNBC.
He said he wished there had been more transparency about the cost overrunsof renovations at the Fed headquarters, the focus of the Justice Departmentinvestigation.
