Rio Branco faces another day of severe impacts caused by the flood of the Acre River, which keeps the capital of Acre in a state of emergency. According to the municipal Civil Defense, the river level reached 14.31 meters at noon this Friday (17), worsening the situation of families who already live with flooding and material losses.

The advance of water has already reached 20 neighborhoods in the city, directly affecting 521 families. The estimate is that around 1,823 people are dealing with inconveniences such as flooded homes, interruption of basic services and the need to leave their homes. The most critical areas at this time are the Seis de Agosto, Cadeia Velha, Habitasa and Ayrton Senna neighborhoods, where response teams concentrate their efforts.

For families who needed to leave their homes, the City Hall maintains a shelter in operation in Wildy Viana Park. There, four families, totaling 11 people, are sheltered, in addition to three domestic animals, receiving emergency support while the situation does not allow them to return to their homes.

In partnership with the concessionaire Energisa, Civil Defense carries out inspections in 12 neighborhoods to identify risks in the electricity network. When necessary, preventive shutdowns are made to avoid accidents, especially in areas where water already reaches poles and installations.

The effects of the flood also extend beyond the urban area. At least 14 rural communities have recorded impacts and remain under constant monitoring, as the river level could compromise access, agricultural production and the movement of residents.

The Civil Defense of Rio Branco informs that the monitoring of the Acre River is continuous and reinforces the alert for residents of the affected areas to follow safety guidelines. In risk or emergency situations, the population must contact the official service channels by calling 193.
