On Saturday, the opposition Movement Slovakia published another question for which people can vote on the website Prevrat2027.sk. He wants to address the availability of examinations by specialist doctors. The public is asked whether they agree that the health insurance company has to pay for an examination by a non-contractual doctor if it does not ensure a timely examination by a specialist doctor.
If the given intention receives sufficient support from the people, the movement will want to transform this solution into legislative changes of the new government. The question was presented by the leader of the movement Igor Matovič and the member of the parliament and ex-minister of health Marek Krajčí (Slovakia – For the people) at the press conference on Saturday.
“We want to determine the maximum waiting periods for examination by a specialist doctor. If the health insurance company does not provide him by that deadline (…), the insured person can go to the first private person and the health insurance company will bring a note to reimburse the examination.” Matovič zoomed in.
He explained that the deadlines would vary from specialist to specialist. “It can be 30 days with some specialist, 60 days with another, maybe 90 days with another for a transitional period,” he added.
The Slovakian Movement justified this intention by saying that does not consider it “normal that the owner of a health insurance company pays tens of millions of euros in profit annually from money intended for the treatment of sick people, but sick people – policyholders of his insurance company – they cannot get an examination by a specialist”.
He believes that if the health insurance company cannot provide an examination, should pay. “It is a shame when it is written in the constitution that people are entitled to free health care, which, of course, also means that it will be high-quality and timely, so that people can’t manage to get an appointment with a specialist for months, sometimes even years,” added Matovič.
Hnutie Slovensko publishes on its website every month a question regarding a specific solution for the country. He plans to do so until the next parliamentary elections. People can vote for proposed solutions. The solutions that gain support, the movement will want to transform into legislative changes of the new government. He will support the formation of the government only if he receives a promise that the solutions will be implemented within half a year.
