The demonstration was organized by the civic association of Eduard Chmelár.

Dozens of people gathered in the center of the capital on Saturday afternoon to express their disapproval of the actions of the administration of US President Donald Trump, which claimed responsibility for the attacks in Venezuela on January 3. At the same time, she detained Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, and transported them out of the country by air.

The organizer of the event is the civil association United for Peace, whose president is Eduard Chmelár. It was he who called on the demonstrators to loudly chant “Venezuela to the Venezuelans” to express their support for the Venezuelan people.

The ambassador and representative of Venezuela at the UN in Vienna, Claudia Salerno Caldera, also spoke on the square, interpreted by Ľuboš Blaha. “We cannot ignore the main element of this American aggression. Venezuela is the victim of these attacks because of its natural resources,” she said. According to her, oil, energy resources and the geopolitical position of the country have always been factors of gluttony and external pressure. After criticizing the United States for violating international law, she thanked the Slovaks for their solidarity with the Venezuelans.

After the ambassador, Judita Laššáková, Member of the European Parliament for Smer, took the podium, calling for peaceful solutions to any conflicts. “The European Union has failed. We should live in a world where we accept others as they are,” she urged. According to her, the US procedure was not kosher and was not in accordance with international law.

MEP for Smer Ľuboš Blaha also spoke, who based his speech mainly on insults against liberals, the European Union and the opposition Progressive Slovakia, respectively its chairman Michal Šimeček.
