The son of the last shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavithis Friday accused the Iranian clerical establishment of having become a “occupation force that hijacked” the country and called on the international community to act immediately to orchestrate a “transition process towards a free Iran and democratic.”
Pahlavi, exiled in the United States since 1979, as one of the most vocal opposition voices in the face of those who have been shaking the country for almost 20 days.
At a press conference this Friday, Pahlavi also took the opportunity to explain the main lines of a “plan for the next hundred days to the collapse of the regime” and which begins with “restoration of economic confidence” in the country and guarantees for the functioning of essential services.
In parallel, a “constitutional process under international observation” with a view to carrying out “free and fair electionss” for a “free and democratic Iran that will live in peace with its neighbors”.
All this so that Iranians can take “total control of their own destiny” through a “devolution of the power that was taken from them by this regime”, says Pahlavi.
The opponent declared himself convinced that has the necessary support to guide the country through the transition. “I am sure that I can count on the support from my compatriots and I believe that the Iranian people have declared, in a massive way, who they want to lead this transition”, said Pahlavi, quoted by .
“They know my route. You know my unwavering commitment to democracy and human rights. This has been my position since day one and I maintain it to this day. They know they can trust me”, said the opponent.
Pahlavi defended the validity of a US military operation to weaken the Iranian authorities and protect the population, who are “defenseless on the streets”.
“Any attack against repression entities of the regime will make our task easier, will prevent further loss of life and will weaken the regime to the point that resistance becomes futile: we will try to encourage the regime’s leadership to finally withdraw, and society will realize that it has completely collapsed”, he stated.
The son of asked the international community to act urgently because “the faster” its assistance occurs, “more lives can be saved and sooner we will be able to see the collapse of the regime.”
He further assured that remains convinced of the “commitment” expressed by the American president, Donald Trumpwhen he says that “help is on the way”. “I believe the president is a man of his word“, he added.
