São Paulo Council approves impeachment against Julio Casares

Accused of irregularities in the MorumBIS box, the director was removed from command of the club; Harry Massis Jr takes on the role until the end of the year

Julio Casares’ impeachment request was filed after the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the opening of a police investigation to investigate illegal exploitation of a box at the tricolor stadium

The Deliberative Council of the (SPFC) voted this Friday (16) to open the impeachment process against the president of the club. Voting took place around 6:30 p.m. as determined by the 3rd Civil Court of Butantã last Monday (12). With 188 votes in favor, the request was validated and the director was removed from command of the club. Now, the shareholders’ meeting will decide whether he will leave the board permanently. Vice-president Harry Massis Júnior will take office until the end of the year, when there will be new elections.

The impeachment request was filed after the São Paulo Public Ministry (MPSP) requested, on December 18, the opening of a police inquiry into the investigation related to the illegal exploitation of a cabin in the tricolor stadium located in the West Zone of São Paulo. The body investigates whether crimes of coercion were committed during the process and private corruption in sport.
