Indonesian authorities are searching for a small passenger plane with which they lost contact on Saturday. Ten people – three government employees and seven crew members – were on board, emergency services said. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
The Indonesia Air Transport turboprop plane took off from the city of Jogjakarta and was headed for the city of Makassar on the island of Sulawesi, the Makassar Search and Rescue Agency said. On board were three employees of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, who were tasked with aerial monitoring.
Loss of contact with the aircraft
Contact with the machine was interrupted at 1:00 p.m. local time (07:00 CET).
Rescue teams have been deployed to the mountainous region of Maros district, which borders Makassar, near the plane’s last known location. The air force, police and volunteers joined the search on land and from the air. They searched for the plane using a helicopter and drones.
The aircraft manufacturer, the French company ATR, said that it was informed about the accident of one of its machines, writes AFP.
