
A 41-year-old man died in the early hours of this Sunday after being shot at the door of his house in the El Algar district, belonging to Cartagena, in the Region of , reports the emergency service 112. Among the crime hypotheses that investigators are considering, the possibility that the death occurred due to a “dump” or drug theft stands out, although other motives for the event have not been ruled out.
The deceased was found with severe bleeding and lying at the door of his home shortly after hearing a loud explosion, according to testimonies from neighbors cited by 112. The victim lived in a duplex located on Juan XXIII Street in the town, about 18 kilometers from Cartagena.
Virtudes Martínez, an aunt of the deceased, explained that the aggressor used a ladder to access the victim’s home and placed a screwdriver on her nephew’s partner’s neck. “When he arrived at the scene, they shot him,” he said.
“They have executed him,” said Martínez, who said that he did not know if the deceased was involved in drug matters. The woman has lamented that her relative has died “bleeding to death” and has asked for justice for the situation that El Algar is experiencing. “We are left in the hands of God,” he assured.
112 received several calls alerting about the event and has sent patrols from the Civil Guard, the Local Police and a mobile unit from the Emergency Management and Health Emergencies 061 to the area. The health services have intervened quickly, according to 112 sources, but, given the severity of the injuries, the man died at the scene before being able to be evacuated to a hospital.
