Flamengo: who is Carbone, sent off against Volta Redonda?

Flamengo: quem é Carbone, expulso contra o Volta Redonda? image

Seeking their first victory in Carioca, Flamengo entered the field with an alternative team in the match against Volta Redonda this Saturday (17/1). With just ten minutes of play, Rubro-Negro suffered a blow with the expulsion of left-back Carbone. THE Sporting News provides details about the player.

Who is Carbone?

João Victor Schlickmann Carbone was born in January 2005 and is a central defender, but can also play as a left-back, as in the match against Volta Redonda.

Carbone consolidated himself in the red and black base and was part of the main achievements of the under-17s (the Copa do Brasil and the Supercopa in 2022), in addition to also being champion of the Brasileirão Under-20 in 2023 and the unprecedented Libertadores Under-20 title, where he was a starter.

The player caught attention and was called up in 2024 by Tite’s technical committee to be part of Flamengo’s pre-season in the United States. In recent years he has been called up to join the main group in pre-seasons and some friendlies, especially in situations where the club chose to give space to young players from the academy.

Carbone is the grandson of former Brazilian national team player José Luiz Carbone, who passed away in 2020. He played for Grêmio before arriving at Flamengo in 2021. The player has a contract with Flamengo until the end of 2026 and is a promising young man.
