In elections voting is in person, which forces thousands of Portuguese emigrants abroad to travel to embassies and consulates. In Zurich, the queues are long and the waiting time is around two and a half hours.
In images sent to SIC, it is possible to see hundreds of people outside the consulateat a time when temperatures are around 0 degrees. To SIC, a Portuguese voter says that, despite the long waiting time, the process is proceeding normally.

More than 11 million voters choose Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s successor
More than 11 million voters are called to choose Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s successor, in very disputed elections for the Presidency of the Republic and with a record 11 candidates.
According to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration (SGMAI), they were registered on the electoral roll to the reference date of January 3rd.
Of these, 218,481 voters registered in the national territory, including which took place last Sunday.
