Motorcycles are “fashion” in Brazil

Sales of two-wheeled vehicles reached the highest number since 2003. Urban mobility and professional use are reasons.

Figures from the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles and Similar (Abraciclo) reveal the trend: Motorcycles are “fashionable” in Brazil.

Over the past year, more than 2 million of motorcycles, more precisely 2,197,851 units. It is an increase of 17.1% compared to 2024.

More than that: 2025 was the year with most motorcycles sold since 2003ahead of 2011 and 2008, which had recorded the other peaks.

The president of Abraciclo, Marcos Bento, explains: “The sector’s performance reflects the demand for two-wheeled vehicles, driven mainly by urban mobility and by professional use”, cite to .

O price and the transit (chaotic in several cities, in the capital of each state) also make a difference: a motorbike, in principle, is cheaper than a car; and passes traffic queues much more easily. And, if it is stolen, the damage is less. There are also many motorbikes in interior, in rural areas – here, price is the priority factor.

As exports recorded an even more significant increase: 43,117 vehicles, 39.1% more than in 2024.

For the new year, Abraciclo expects even more motorcycles to be sold: around 2.3 million. In other words, an increase of 4.6% compared to last year.

Exports should also register an increase (4.4%), jumping to 45 thousand units.

“The projections indicate the consolidated growth of the segment in Brazil and reinforce the strategic role of the Industrial Pole of Manaus, the largest two-wheel production hub outside Asia”, analyzes the president of Abraciclo.
