The US president has sent a letter inviting the president of Turkey to become a member of the so-called “Peace Council” that will oversee the interim administration of Gaza, the Turkish presidency announced today.

“On January 16, 2026, US President Donald Trump, as the founding president of the Peace Council, sent a letter to our president Recep Tayyip Erdogan inviting him to become a founding member of the Peace Council,” Burhanetin Duran, director of communications for the Republic of Turkey, wrote to X.

Trump’s invitation to Egypt as well

Egypt is considering an invitation from US President Donald Trump to his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to join the so-called “Peace Council” on Gaza, the country’s foreign minister said today during a press conference.

Miley already accepted her

The letter in which Donald Trump invites him to join the Council was uploaded to the X account by the president of Argentina, Javier Millay.

“I am honored to accept tonight the invitation for Argentina to join, as a founding member, the Peace Council, an organization created by President Trump to promote lasting peace in conflict-affected areas, starting with the Gaza Strip,” he initially said in his post, sharing a photo of the letter.

“Argentina will always be at the side of countries that fight against terrorism, that defend life and property, and that promote peace and freedom. It is our honor to accompany you in such a great responsibility,” he added.

And Canada in the “game”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney intends to accept Donald Trump’s invitation to participate in the Gaza Peace Council, a senior adviser to the head of the Canadian government told AFP, without elaborating.

The White House announced yesterday some members of the Peace Council, which Trump will chair. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was announced as one of the members of the “Gaza Executive Council”, along with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
