Luis Pacheco was a starter in Palmeiras’ victory over Mirassol, in the 3rd round of the Campeonato Paulista. A standout in the youth categories, the midfielder was left out of Copinha to join Abel Ferreira’s squad at the beginning of the season. THE Sporting News provides details about the player.
Who is Luis Pacheco?
Pacheco was born in Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul, and has been at Palmeiras since 2020 (he also joined the under-13 team). The player is captain of the Under-17 team and is seen as one of the biggest names at the moment at the Alviverde base. This season, he has played 17 games for the Under-17s, with three goals, and three appearances for the Under-20s.
In total, Luis played 40 games in the under-17 team with 5 goals, and in the under-20s there were few appearances, as he “jumped the queue” and was already promoted to the professional squad.
The player was part of the squad of the Brazilian under-17 team that came in 4th place in the World Cup in 2025. He played 8 games and provided one assist.
Although he is the first midfielder, the young man is considered a player with the ability to attack well, and can also play as number 8. For Verdão’s youth teams, the player has already won four titles, including two editions of the Brasileirão U20 (2024 and 2025) and a Paulista U15 (2023).
Pacheco debuted in Palmeiras’ professional squad in October last year, against Juventude. At the end of the year, the midfielder renewed his contract with Palmeiras. The new agreement is valid until September 2028 and has a termination fine of 100 million euros (R$631 million) for clubs abroad. He has been at Verdão since 2020, at the age of 12.
