Chile declares a state of emergency due to forest fires that have killed at least 19 people


Santiago de Chile – Chile’s President Gabriel Boric has declared a state of emergency in the Ñuble and Biobío regions, about 500 kilometers south of the capital Santiago de Chile, due to forest fires that have killed at least 19 people. More than 50,000 people have also been displaced by the fires that have been raging for two days, as the Chilean authorities announced on Sunday (local time). Almost 4,000 firefighters are fighting the flames.
