Euronews informs that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is so far the only leader of an EU member state to have accepted the invitation.
In addition to Orbán, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian President Abdal Fattah Sisi, Jordanian King Abdullah II also received invitation letters. or Kazakh President Kasym Zomart-Tokayev. The Kremlin announced on Monday that Trump had also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join the council.
Gaza Peace Council
The council is part of Trump’s peace plan, agreed to by both Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Based on this plan, a cease-fire in the Palestinian enclave entered into force on October 10, 2025, suspending the two-year war. The establishment of the aforementioned council is part of the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire.
The plan stipulates that the council will serve as an international watchdog to oversee the new Palestinian interim administration of Gaza during the post-ceasefire reconstruction period.
