Grandma and Grandpa's Day To the doctor, to the grandchildren and... at night. This is how grandmas and grandpas from "Uber Senior" drive

Uber accounts for seniors have been helping older people move comfortably and safely for half a year, while providing peace of mind to their loved ones. The options include: a simplified version of the application, the ability to order trips for seniors and track the route, the ability to contact the driver during the course and convenient payments for trips.

The fact that this is a necessary option is proven by the data – an almost three-fold increase in the number of users just two months after the service was made available and the ways in which the application is used. Seniors travel regularly, mainly to institutions and facilities that are important to them and during typical working hours of their loved ones – mobility is an important element of everyday independence for them.

Closer and further errands

The average length of a trip using Uber for seniors is 9 kilometers. These are not trips to the nearest market, but longer journeys between districts or even to the other end of the city. The most common directions of travel are – apart from homes – hospitals and medical facilities, shopping centers and shops, railway and bus stations, as well as schools and kindergartens.

Interestingly, airports are the least frequently chosen destination, although the longest trip for seniors was to this place. The record holder completed an 86-kilometer course from the Warsaw airport to Skierniewice.

The rhythm of seniors’ day

Seniors have their own daily rhythm, which is confirmed by Uber data – most trips for older people are made at noon, and almost half of all trips take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This is the perfect time for visits, shopping and errands, when loved ones are often at work and are unable to support seniors with logistics on their own.

Although the vast majority of journeys are carried out during the so-called working hours, there were also seniors who were “night owls”. Even though the least popular trips are at night, i.e. at 2:00 and 3:00 a.m., such trips also took place.

An intense start to the week

Seniors are mobile mainly on Mondays and Tuesdays, when the week is just getting started. The quietest – that is, the fewest trips – are on Saturdays and Sundays. On Mondays, the most popular day of the week for seniors to run errands, there are twice as many rides using the Uber Senior option than on the last day of the week.

The capital is in the lead

The most mobile seniors in the Uber application are those from large cities and centers – Warsaw, Poznań and Tricity. However, the capital is the undisputed leader – in Warsaw alone there are three times more journeys than in Poznań, which takes second place on the podium. The fewest journeys were made by seniors from the Opole and Podlaskie voivodeships.

Trips that meet your expectations

Uber accounts for seniors not only provide great support for families and the ability for older people to remain independent, but also provide mutual satisfaction – both seniors and drivers evaluate the rides very positively. The average satisfaction rating after the course given by seniors is 4.92, while seniors receive ratings from drivers of 4.93 – on a five-point scale. How to set up an Uber account for a senior?

All an Uber application user needs to do is invite a loved one to create their account in the application – they can do this by opening it, then going to the “Account” tab, “Family” and using the “Invite family” button. The elderly person receives a text message with a link to download the apk and join the family account. Once set up, the senior can request rides themselves or allow a family member to help when needed.

Uber senior accounts are available – apart from Poland – also in the United States, Brazil, Chile and Mexico, and in Europe – in Romania, the Czech Republic and Croatia. The product exemplifies Uber’s commitment to creating technology that supports mobility at every stage of life. In Poland, in 2025, Uber also supported two foundations working for seniors – the Little Brothers of the Poor Association and the Santa Claus Foundation for Seniors.
