Mateo Cassierra at Atlético-MG: value and contract period
Colombian striker Mateo Cassierra, 28, currently plays for Zenit, in Russia. According to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Cassierra arrives with a permanent contract. The player is expected in the next few days to undergo medical examinations in Belo Horizonte before signing a contract.
Cassierra didn’t even participate in Zenit’s training last Thursday (15), the group’s first after the vacation period. Coach Sergey Semak, when asked about Cassierra’s absence, confirmed that the striker had proposed leaving the club.
According to journalist Venê Casagrande, Atlético-MG will pay Zenit 10 million euros (R$63 million) for the Colombian striker, of which 7 million euros (R$44 million) are fixed and 3 million euros (R$19 million) in goal bonuses.
The hiring of a center forward was one of the main requests of coach Jorge Sampaoli, who stated that he had selected Hulk in the role against Tombense, this Sunday (18), at Arena MRV, for the second round of Mineiro, as he did not have a player of this style in the squad.

Mateo Cassierra: who is it?
Mateo Cassierra is a Colombian striker revealed by the youth teams of Deportivo Cali, in Colombia.
After standing out in local football, Cassierra was traded in 2016 to Ajax, from the Netherlands. Following his career, he spent time at Groningen (Netherlands), Racing (Argentina), B SAD (Portugal) and FK Sochi (Russia), before arriving at Zenit.
Cassierra has played for Zenit since 2022 and has been one of the Russian team’s highlights since then. For the team, he has played 127 games, scored 49 goals and provided 23 assists.
In the current season, the “scorer” has already found the net six times, in 15 matches played. He was even in Cruzeiro’s sights in 2023, in the Ronaldo era.
