The candidate supported by Chega highlights having defeated the “Government candidate” and promises to lead the “non-socialist” space in Portugal.
Candidate André Ventura, who managed to gather 23.29% of the votes in these presidential elections, highlights that the election results show that Chega leads the right. The leader of Chega also considers that he will only lose the second round of the presidential elections “due to the selfishness of the PSD, the Liberal Initiative or other parties that claim to be right-wing”.
Received with a party at the headquarters, following the results that gave him passage to the second round of the presidential elections, he addresses the Portuguese, guaranteeing that he will lead the “non-socialist” space.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you for not giving up and believing it was possible. Thank you for, despite all the attacks and talk from the far right, manipulating the polls. Thank you for leaving home.”
The candidate supported by Chega highlights that the country has “awakened” from North to South.
“The right has fragmented like never before, but the Portuguese gave us the leadership of that right in Portugal”, he states.
André Ventura highlights that he managed to defeat the “government and ‘montenegrism’ candidate”, referring to Luís Marques Mendes.
In the statement to the country, he states that he campaigned “without personal impudence and without offence”.
“After 40 years of the last second round in Portugal, after six years of the founding of Chega, after 6/7 years of so many elections, I have to say this face to face with the Portuguese people and all the leaders and supporters: this was the greatest honor of my life”, he declares.

André Ventura also states that the candidate António José Seguro, with whom he is going to the second round, “defends everything contrary to what we defend”:
“He wants more taxes to distribute more subsidies, he wants to continue to suffocate companies with more bureaucracy, he wants more uncontrolled immigration, he wants less security and more lack of control in our justice system.”
Considers that Insurance is the “maximum representative of everything that the country should not accept”, adding that he “does not want socialism in Portugal” because “it destroys, kills and corrupts”.
Seguro will represent the “return of José Sócrates’ and António Costa’s junk to Portugal, he argues.
He also leaves a word to the Portuguese emigrants: “They left Portugal because we became impoverished thanks to 50 years of governments of the same thing, socialists and social democrats.”
On the other hand, he highlights that, if he is elected President of the Republic, immigrants in Portugal “will have to comply with the law”.
