Haskap berry It is a fruit that is ahead of many popular berries in terms of the content of health-promoting substances. Its juice is distinguished by an exceptionally high concentration of antioxidants, which protect cells against oxidative stress and slow down the aging process. Thanks to them, the body copes more effectively with free radicals, which are responsible for weakening immunity, inflammation and lifestyle diseases.
Regularly drinking haskap juice supports the body’s natural cleansing mechanisms, helps in regeneration and strengthens the immune system, which makes it a good choice for people who focus on health prevention.
Haskap berries contain large amounts of vitamins C, K, A and B, as well as minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron and phosphorus. This combination makes the juice work in many directions: it supports the heart, improves tissue oxygenation and strengthens the nervous system.
The juice is also recommended for people with high cholesterol and a tendency to hypertension, because it supports the elasticity of blood vessels and has a beneficial effect on circulation. Additionally, it supports the condition of the eyes, which is especially important when working in front of a screen for a long time and eyestrain.
This inconspicuous berry is also helpful for people who suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections. Thanks to its diuretic and antibacterial properties, it supports the treatment of kidney or bladder inflammation. And drinking juice regularly can help prevent the onset of these diseases.
Particularly valuable are the polyphenols, anthocyanins and flavonoids contained in it, i.e. antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory and protective effects. Drinking juice regularly can help maintain good body condition, especially during periods of greater physical and mental stress. This berry is a valuable ingredient in a diet that reduces the risk of cancer.
It is also a good choice for people with fluctuations in blood sugar levels – consuming it regulates the sensitivity of tissues to insulin, which helps reduce glucose levels. The low glycemic index (53) means that haskap juice can be safely included in the diet of people with insulin resistance and diabetes, of course in reasonable quantities.
Preparing juice at home is simple and allows you to control the composition and the amount of added sugar.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg haskap berries,
- 500 ml of water,
- 300-500 g of sugar or other sweetener (e.g. xylitol).
Pour the fruit into the boiling water and leave over low heat for about 20 minutes until the juice releases. If we want a sweeter taste, add sugar or another sweetener at the end of cooking and mix thoroughly. After cooling, strain the whole thing through a fine sieve and pour the finished juice into sterilized bottles. If you want to store it longer, you can pasteurize the juice.
About 50 ml a day is enough for the body to gradually benefit from its properties. The juice can be drunk alone or diluted with water, treating it as a daily element of the diet, not as a temporary measure.
