The candidate, who received more than 31% of the votes in the first round of the presidential elections, says he is “very happy” with the support he has received and guarantees that he knows of “others that are about to be made public”. Still, Seguro says that “nothing has been gained” and appeals to the “common sense of the Portuguese”.
In Caldas da Rainha, in the same building where he celebrated his António José Seguro returned this Monday to ask for the Democrats to vote. “Nothing has been gained”, considers the candidate supported by the PS.
“There are new elections on February 8th and it is necessary for everyone who voted for my candidacy to do so again and for more votes to come. I believe in the common sense of the Portuguese”, says António José Seguro, who will compete with André Ventura in the second round.
Although Luís Montenegro, Marques Mendes and Cotrim de Figueiredo have declared that they will not support Seguro or Ventura, in the race for Belém. This is the case of José Miguel Júdice, Miguel Poiares Maduro, Mário Amorim Lopes and Pedro Duarte.
“It represents that the appeal I made yesterday [domingo] is being successful. I appealed to all democrats, progressives and humanists to join this candidacy”, reacts Seguro.
The socialist candidate also reveals that he will visit, this Tuesday, a health center in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, “because health is the priority of priorities”.

Among the other candidates for Belém, Henrique Gouveia e Melo did not want to take a position for now, but stated that he will do so “at another time”. Furthermore, the entire left has already declared support for António José Seguro.
