Lisbon – In the presidential election in Portugal, a runoff election between the socialist António José Seguro and the ultra-right André Ventura took place on Sunday evening. According to exit polls, Seguro received 30 to 35 percent of the vote in the first round of voting. The head of the right-wing extremist Chega party, who entered the race as the favorite, was in second place with 19.9 to 24.1 percent. Who will become head of state will be decided in a runoff election on February 8th.
