Under treatment for a , the federal deputy and former governor of Maranhão (-MA), 72, was hospitalized last week with pneumonia.
Roseana broke the news on Sunday night (18), on her Instagram profile. She is undergoing treatment for triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive subtype of tumor, which represents, on average, 15% of breast cancer cases worldwide. In the images, she appears in a hospital bed, with her head shaved, as a result of chemotherapy.
According to the deputy, last week was “not the best”. She says in the video that she was discharged last Thursday (15) and went home. However, the following day she was hospitalized again with pneumonia.
When she recovers from the respiratory illness, the deputy said she will undergo surgery, part of her treatment for breast cancer. Also according to her, the last chemotherapy session, which was scheduled for the 27th, was canceled because of pneumonia.
She discovered it during routine exams. The diagnosis was announced in August last year. In 1998, she had already undergone cancer treatment. Roseana is attended to by Roberto Kalil, the same doctor as the president (PT).

Roseana Sarney is the daughter of the former president and senator (MDB-AP). She governed Maranhão for four terms and was also a senator.
She became known as the “muse of impeachment”, for her role in the removal of former president Fernando Collor de Mello, in 1992. At the time, she was a federal deputy and proved to be a skilled negotiator in Congress.
