By 2025, Tania Maria was not such a popular name in Brazilian cinema, but her interpretation of Dona Sebastiana in “The Secret Agent”attracted the eyes of Brazil and the world to the elderly woman, who revealed to the CNN Brazil what turns 79 this Monday (19). She enters her new age with many projects planned, as she is in six productions that premiere this year.
In the conversation, Tânia says that she hopes that more and more work will come in her acting career. “I’m waiting for more, more and more to come. I want a lot of work. It’s very good”, he says. “I started at 72 and I want to go on until I’m 100.”
She remembers that until 72 years old, her profession was a craftsmanproducing bathroom rug sets – a role she didn’t give up when she became an actress, as “you only need one day at home to make your rugs.” “It’s too good, you can’t stop,” he added.
Since being discovered by Kleber Mendonça Filho during the recording of “Bacurau” (2019), Tânia joined the production as an extra until she was given a small line, an improvisation. “He (Kleber) said that when Lunga walked by me, who is Silvero Pereira, that I should say something about his clothes.
