VIDEO Two high-speed trains derailed! They report at least five dead and 25 injured

At least five people died and 25 others were seriously injured after two high-speed trains derailed near the town of Adamuz in the Spanish province of Córdoba on Sunday evening. TASR informs about this with reference to the public broadcaster RTVE.

Sources from the Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) confirmed for RTVE that several injured people were trapped in the wagons and rescue services are working on the scene. The accident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. CET, when derailed the last three cars of the train company Iryo heading from Málaga to Atocha station in Madrid. These wagons collided with two wagons of a train traveling on the opposite track from Madrid to Huelva.

After the accident, high-speed AVE train services between Madrid and Andalusia were suspended. Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility Óscar Puente also came to the scene of the accident. The president of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, said on Platform X that the hospitals there are at the disposal of the Andalusian regional government.
