Acre launches tender for R$11 million for direct purchase of seedlings; see how to participate

With a focus on strengthening the rural economy, generating income for family farming and boosting strategic production chains, the government of Acre launched a public call for accreditation of suppliers of coffee and cocoa seedlings. The initiative, coordinated by the State Department of Agriculture (Seagri), foresees an investment of R$ 11 million and will serve producers in all regions of the state. The document must be presented in an extra edition of the Official State Gazette (DOE), later this Tuesday (20).

During the presentation of the notice, Governor Gladson Camelí highlighted that the measure fulfills a commitment made throughout his administration, by prioritizing the direct purchase of products produced in Acre itself and strengthening the private sector in the countryside.
“It is with unity that we overcome challenges. Here I fulfill one of my promises, which was to strengthen the private sector so that the State can grow and develop further”, stated the governor.

The public call provides for the accreditation of individuals and legal entities capable of producing and supplying clonal seedlings of Amazonian Robusta coffee (Coffea canephora), in addition to seminal and clonal seedlings of cocoa (Theobroma cacao), within the scope of the State Program for Government Purchases of Family Farming and Solidarity Economy (Pecafes).

According to Camelí, the initiative reduces bureaucracy, encourages new producers and generates significant social impact by benefiting thousands of families who make their living from rural activities. “We are going to sign this notice so that the State can purchase the products produced here. This encourages more and more new producers to invest in coffee”, he highlighted.

Vice-governor Mailza Assis reinforced that the launch of the notice represents an important step for family farming and for the consolidation of the policy to strengthen coffee production in the state. “Strengthening agriculture is fundamental, especially coffee production, which is already available in our state. It is essential that we are talking to producers, observing where we can improve and where we can encourage even more”, he highlighted.

Mailza also emphasized that public policy is already showing concrete results, directly reflecting on the quality of life of Acre families.

“We already have results from this. More than 45 thousand families already survive from coffee production, with a quality of life resulting from this culture”, he stated.

According to the vice-governor, the investments made over the last few years, from the creation of specific legislation to the acquisition of equipment, soil improvement and, now, the purchase of seedlings, have guaranteed economic stability for families and expanded Acre’s presence in new markets.

“All of this strengthens the economy, gives stability to families and takes our Acre abroad, showing our culture and wealth”, he added.

In addition to the economic and social impact, the government highlights that the initiative contributes to sustainable development, by stimulating local production and reducing transport losses, as the seedlings are produced in nurseries installed in the state itself.

Registration for accreditation begins on the fifth business day after publication of the notice in the Official Gazette of the State of Acre. The notice and its annexes are available on the Seagri website, at www.agricultura.ac.gov.br, and can also be requested by email. The accreditation will be valid for 12 months.
