China will donate 30,000 tons of rice to Cuba

Chinese aid comes at a time of tension between the island and the USA; Trump tightened blockade on Cuba after operation in Venezuela

China will send 30,000 tons of rice to Cuba as part of an emergency food aid project. The first batches were delivered on Monday (19 January 2026) and this Tuesday (20 January).

The Chinese donation comes at a time when the US siege on the Caribbean island is tightening. Since the US operation in Venezuela that resulted from (PSUV, left), on January 3, the US government has already placed Cuba in the crosshairs of a possible intervention.

He declared that he is willing to dialogue with Trump, but only based on “sovereign equality, in mutual respect, in the principles of International Law and in reciprocal benefit”.

Cuban authorities and the Chinese ambassador to Cuba, participated in a ceremony to hand over the 1st batch of rice on Monday (19 January). According to the Chinese representative, the donation is a symbol of friendship between the 2 countries.

“No blockade can extinguish the flame of hope and no difficulties can impede progress. China is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with Cuba to overcome current challenges and further promote the construction of a China-Cuba community”said the Chinese ambassador.
