This Tuesday’s FC Porto training session, at Olival, was marked by a special moment with the presence of Luísa, a young Porto fan who Francesco Farioli met over the Christmas period, during a visit to Ala do Joãozinho, at Hospital de São João.
Invited by the coach, Luísa spent the day at the Jorge Costa Sports Training and Training Center, where she was introduced to the squad, technical team and other staff. Farioli highlighted the young woman’s energy and strength, stressing that she was someone with a lot to teach the group.
In a brief speech, Luísa left a simple but striking message: “Falling is part of it, getting up is the choice”, a phrase that prompted a strong reaction of support and applause from everyone present.
Also present was Salvador, Luísa’s partner in figure skating, who suspended practicing the sport until his colleague recovered. The young woman is facing Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare cancer, and is preparing to head to Madrid, where she will undergo treatment that does not exist in Portugal.
Before leaving, Luísa wished FC Porto good luck for the game against Viktoria Plzen and received words of encouragement, hugs and recognition from the club, which highlighted her as an example of courage and determination.
